Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly died of drug overdose

Chris Kelly of '90s rap duo Kris Kross died of a drug overdose, medical reports have confirmed. A toxicology screening revealed that Kelly had taken a mixture of drugs before his death on May 1, AP reports. Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office in Atlanta said it wasn't clear what drugs Kelly had used before his death, however, his mother told police on the night of his death that her son had used cocaine and heroin and that he had a history of drug abuse. Paramedics found Kelly unresponsive on a living room couch at his Atlanta home and tried to resuscitate him. The 34-year-old, known as "Mac Daddy", was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. At a memorial ceremony for Kelly in early May his uncle, Lemar Williams, said he showed a love for music from an early age. Kris Kross – who were famous for wearing their clothes backwards – was made up of Chris 'Mac Daddy' Kelly, and Chris 'Daddy Mac' Smith. Their biggest hit was their 1992 album 'Totally Krossed Out' and the multi-million selling single 'Jump'. The duo last performed in February to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label that signed them. The duo were just 13 years old when they were discovered in a shopping mall in Atlanta. Read more at http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/71201#VMvkUgmvhWYwKu4j.99
