Kris Kross rapper Chris Kelly died of drug overdose
Chris Kelly of '90s rap duo Kris Kross died of a drug overdose, medical reports have confirmed. A toxicology screening revealed that Kelly had taken a mixture of drugs before his death on May 1, AP reports. Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office in Atlanta said it wasn't clear what drugs Kelly had used before his death, however, his mother told police on the night of his death that her son had used cocaine and heroin and that he had a history of drug abuse. Paramedics found Kelly unresponsive on a living room couch at his Atlanta home and tried to resuscitate him. The 34-year-old, known as "Mac Daddy", was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. At a memorial ceremony for Kelly in early May his uncle, Lemar Williams, said he showed a love for music from an early age. Kris Kross – who were famous for wearing their clothes backwards – was made up of Chris 'Mac Daddy' Kelly, and Chris 'Daddy Mac' Smith. Their biggest hit was their 1992 album 'Totally Krossed Out' and the multi-million selling single 'Jump'. The duo last performed in February to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def label that signed them. The duo were just 13 years old when they were discovered in a shopping mall in Atlanta. Read more at http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/71201#VMvkUgmvhWYwKu4j.99
A$AP Rocky accused of 'slapping' fan during Australian gig
A$AP Rocky has been caught on camera appearing to slap a female fan during a gig in Australia. The rapper was performing live at Hordern Pavilion on June 28 when the incident took place. Having ventured out into the audience to meet fans and shake hands, Rocky is seen approaching a female fan who gestures that she wants him to kiss her on the lips. However, instead of going along with her request he appears to slap her in the face before walking off. See above for footage of the incident. The rapper is yet to comment on the matter. This latest moment of crowd trouble follows an incident earlier this year which saw Rocky cut short a gig after a crowd member allegedly stole his hat. The rapper was performing in Dortmund, Germany in June when the alleged theft occurred and his increasingly frustrated reaction was captured on video camera by a fan. "Who took my shit?" Rocky can be heard asking the crowd. "I came to party with y'all, give me my hat so I can. That's a one-of-a-kind hat." A$AP Rocky has recently completed a five-date UK and Ireland tour and returns to the UK later this month for a set at London's Wireless Festival on July 14. He's also confirmed to appear at this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 23 and 24.
