Madonna's Controversial MDNA Tour: Has She Gone Too Far

Madonna can't catch a break. Pop music's queen again finds herself in a flood of bad press after fans at an intimate show at Paris' l'Olympia club booed and chanted "refund!" when the music icon's performance ended after just 45 minutes. While this latest fiasco seems to be rooted in misunderstanding — "She has done a handful of club dates in the past and they were never more than 45 minutes," according to her rep — Madonna has run straight into controversy at every turn on her MDNA Tour.

Controversy is, of course, Madonna's longtime plaything, except this time around it isn't doing much to help her cause. She's always welcomed the odd bit of trouble as a means to inspire thought-provoking conversations about real issues. But this latest string of incidents has fallen on deaf ears, leaving even die-hard fans wondering if she's now simply going too far for the sake of going too far. Not even two months into the most extensive tour of her career, the headlines have been piling up, and despite the tour's financial success (it's on track to be one of the highest-grossing ever), they've rarely been kind.

50 Cent becomes New York licensed boxing promoter: Forms TMT Promotions

According to SI.com, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has become a licensed boxing promoter in New York State and has formed TMT Promotions (The Money Team Promotions). The move by Jackson seems to be no surprise as he is best friends with Floyd Mayweather Jr., who hinted in the past that Jackson may be entering the promotional business. Nevertheless, the move seems like a good one for New York fighters as it is no secret that the state of New York is lacking in fights of significance in comparison to states such as California and Las Vegas. Even more, Jackson, who is a native of Queens, would certainly love to be the one to bring back the New York fight game. With Golden Boy Promotions' plans to hold a significant amount of fights at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, it should be interesting to see if Jackson can work with them to put together some entertaining fight nights. Furthermore, there has been speculation that Jackson will be signing former featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa and super middleweight contender Andre Dirrell. The addition of those two fighters would be a significant move within the fight game and would surely provide Jackson with the opportunity to put together some entertaining fight nights. Monetarily, Jackson certainly has the means to pull off the venture as he reportedly earned over $100 million in the sale of Vitamanwater to Coca Cola in 2007, a company he owned shares of. Furthermore, Jackson has a successful music career that he could use to attract even more fans to his boxing events, which would certainly help ticket sales. Overall, it seems like the move is a smart one by Jackson and could pay off dividends in the long run. With Floyd Mayweather Jr. on his side, there is no reason why Jackson cannot be successful in this endeavor as he will have a lot of leverage on his side to begin with. As for New York, the move could pay significant dividends for the New York fight game as it seems it is ever more important that the state of New York gets further fight opportunities for its fighters. Only time will tell, but it should be interesting to see how Jackson approaches his new venture within the sport of boxing.

Elton John: Son is always on my mind

Sir Elton John thinks about his son "24 hours a day".
The British singer and his partner David Furnish are proud parents to 18-month-old Zachary. Elton, 65, is famed for his lavish lifestyle choices and wealth of A-list friends, but says Zachary has transformed his way of thinking.
"I think it changes everybody. It's the most wonderful thing that you could possibly go through. I regret a little bit that I didn't do it sooner, but life happens for a reason the way it happens," he mused in an interview with UK TV show Daybreak.
"He's changed our lives. Everything is about him now. Everything in the house has got to be child-friendly and child-proof. It's about what's best for Zachary and not what's best for David and myself.
"I thought it was going to be more difficult than it was. I was fairly set in my ways before I became a dad, but the first moment he appeared on Earth, that love you have. You think about him 24 hours a day."
Elton has battled drug and alcohol addictions in the past. The star says his more difficult years shaped him as a person.
"I'm glad I lived my rock star years because it makes me appreciate now what I shouldn't be doing. When I was younger I did everything I possibly could and had a great time. I took it too far and I didn't know when to stop," he admitted.
"The good thing about it is life since 1990 has been all about trying to grow up, trying to see things from a different perspective, listening, and having a great time."

Pink: Artists like softer side

Pink thinks people are willing to collaborate with her now because she's 'softened'.
The star's new record The Truth About Love is out later this year and she's already warned her fans it isn't as rage-filled as her usual material.
She's now confirmed British singer Lily Allen appears on the record and is thrilled people finally want to work with her.
'For the last 14 years, everyone has said no [to collaborations]. But this album, everyone said yes! And I think that's because people think I've softened. I think people maybe think I bite!" she laughed to AMP Radio.
The lead single from the album is called Blow Me (One Last Kiss) and Pink loved it as soon as she heard it. She thinks it is the ultimate pop tune.
'I just instantly wanted to rip my clothes off and dance and drink and just blow off steam. Yeah, it's a break up song. I'm still exercising some demons, but it's so fun and I feel like I wake up every morning and it's a dance party and that's kind of how my record is,' she has said.

Nas heeds 'inner blues player'

Nas reveals he has a deep connection with his inner blues musician.
The renowned rap superstar credits his father, jazz musician Olu Dara, for his understanding of the history of music.
Nas believes this wealth of knowledge has helped him have such a long and successful hip-hop career.
'You can hear the blues player inside me,' Nas told NME magazine about his roots.
'My plan is to do music every time I feel it. Doing that has made me probably the longest-lasting hip-hop artist.'
Hip-hop legend Nas reflects often on how the industry has changed.
He believes hip-hop today is unrecognisable to the scene he first got involved in. What started on the streets has evolved into artists becoming mainstream chart toppers like Kanye West and media mogul Jay-Z.
'I still have love for hip-hop in some of its original forms, but it's a big business now,' he said. 'Thank god hip-hop became so big.'

Ke$ha's new album 'vulnerable'

Ke$ha has revealed that the tunes on her new record are 'more personal' than ever.

The Tik Tok pop star is currently finishing up tracks with producer Dr. Luke on her as yet untitled upcoming album.

Ke$ha, who is known for producing fun and infectious pop songs, is taking a markedly different approach with her new works.

'The first two records talked more about partying, which is a great, magical part of life. But some songs on the new record are more personal and vulnerable,' she said in the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone magazine.

'And you can hear more of the music I listen to when I'm lying in my bed. I'm not claiming that it's a rock record, but as long as it's f**king good, you can call it whatever you want.

'I want it to be a mix of what works on the radio and what I listen to in my spare time. I'm on a steady diet of T. Rex and Iggy Pop.'

Ke$ha is really dedicated to creating musical masterpieces on this album.

'About 90 percent of the time, I don't give a f**k. But I give so many f**ks about this album,' she explained. 'Some people weren't sure if I could sing. On this record, I said 'Let's leave the tricks to a minimum and let me wail.' '

Ke$ha's new LP is slated for release later on this year.
